Have you ever walked into your closet and prayed? I’m not talking about a spiritual-retreat-from-the-world type of getaway, but a sad look at your clothes and prayed for God to do a miracle?

Look, I know first hand that there are greater issues in the world. The government is shutting down, we are in an economic recession, and Kayne hates Jimmy Kimmel’s attack on North West. It’s a sad world, friends. In light of the world’s problems, my life is peaches and cream. Seriously.

But there are moments when I just need some help. I feel like if I make one more claim about some amazing diet I’m on, I’ll officially turn into the Oprah Winfrey of the yo-yo dieting world. And I’m old. Like not I-drink-Metamucil-old but I’m-texting-my-little-sister-pictures-of-me-to-see-if-my-outfits-are-cool old. I refuse to give away the jeans in my closet because I firmly believe I’m going to lose my honeymoon weight [from three years ago] and slide right back into my skinny jeans. [Basically, I’m a hoarder.]

So you can imagine my delight when my friend told me about Stitchfix. Skeptical at first, I was concerned that it was going to be more one scheme preying off my feminine sensibilities and insecurities of feeling that my jeans—like my waist size—are outdated and not cool. Stitchfix is basically the friends I’ve always wanted to help me find clothes that fit me and make me “age appropriate” [a word my little sister used when I tried convincing her I needed tribal print stretch pants].

Stitchfix is basically an online styling company that helps styleless victims like myself feel  like anyone can be fashionable, even on a budget. You fill out a profile, answer some questions, and voila! A box is sent to your house with potential items for you to buy.

If you’re thinking this is too good to be true, all I can say is Ye of little faith! Some people are hourglass in figure, others are tall and thin. I’m more of a circle [because round is a shape, right?]. I have shoulders that rival a 49’er linebacker and stumpy legs, so finding clothes that fit without trying them on is like asking Avril Lavigne to be positive.

But the wizards at Stitchfix NAILED it. I opened up my box and loved e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. They even went on my Pintrest page and Twitter profile to get a sense of who I was and what I liked. A little stalker, right? Buuuuuuut so worth it! I received an email from my stylist who wished me luck at the Catalyst Conference I’m speaking at this week. Sooooo stalker, soooooo awesome. 😉

If you see me in a cute outfit, please know it wasn’t me. It was my friends from Stitchfix who helped me turn water in to wine [aka put an outfit together]. I can’t help but share this with you in case you’re dealing with a case of Closet Blues.

For more information or to build your style profile, check out Stitchfix HERE.

Until then, pray for me and my friend Rebekah Lyons as we share at Catalyst on willingness and vulnerability. And don’t worry, I will be rocking a new sweater that my stylist/stalker/friend hand-picked for me.
